A boy who had been badly injured by an explosion of percussion caps, caused by contact with a red-hot iron, was brought into the local Hospital bv train to-day. A motor cyclist attempted to ride over some newly-tarred asphalt at the lower end of Wilson Street this morning, with disastrous results. His machine skidded from underneath iiiiu, and be fell heavily on the wet and sticky tar. He was wearing a complete outfit of new canvas overalls, in addition to a light summer suit, but this did not prevent the tar soaking him right through to the skin on the side bn which he fell, while he was liberally smeared and bespattered all over. His' hands were perfectly covered with tar, and his overalls presented an unique sight. The men working the tar assisted him as far as they could, and the poor motorist, who was bound for Palmerston, stacked his cycle, and turned back for cleansing operations.
