GISBORNE-NAPIER RAILWAY.

(Per United Press Association.) GISBORNE, March 20. The Hon. R. McKenzie, Minister qf Public Works, proceeds to Waipiro Bay and, returning to Gisborne on Wednesday, be proceeds overland to Napier, travelling over the proposed route of the GisborneNapier line, via Mangapoike. A deputation representing the EaM. Coast Inland League waited on the Hon. R. McKenzie to-day, and urged the Hangaroa route in preference to the Mangapoke for the Gisborne-Napier railway line. After matters had been gone into, the Minister undertook to send the Engineer-in-Chief to inspect both of the routes. The deputation is to meet the Minister again on Wednesday. He has left for Tokomaru Bay.
