The dry weather still holds but. and people are longing for the rairi, which; is threatening at the time of writing. • The growth in grass has not been good since the last rain, and it will have a poor chance of recovering before the winter. The dry season is also- beginning to tell on our shell rock roads, which are becoming very dusty. \ The last two weeks have been busy ones here, with chaffcutting and threshing. The fine weather facilitated this (work, which has now been completed. 1 Quite a number of local .residents went to the Wnverley show, and several exhibited successfully. Mr C. E. Billingliurst was particularly fortunate with his horse Mac, securing three firsts. - _ ... Our school secured first prizes for onions Alia potatoes at, the Feilding ■ show last week, whilst, the teacher secured the poirits prize" for vegetables at the Wanganui show. , Most peop/le find the delaying of the evening train on Wednesdays a convenience during -the summer months j but are ■hbping. it' will 'not' continue Through' the winter. ,
