WARATAH INQUIRY.

CONFLICTING EVIDENCE. Press Association.—Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Januarv 18, 9.20 a.m. , LONDON, January i 7. The depositions of the dock and ship-, pin" officials of Adelaide were read at the Waratah inquiry, and showed that the Warutali was seaworthy, and her cargo was properly stowed. McDiarraid, the pilot, regarded the, Waratah as a tender ship, but not to the extent of being unseaworthy. She had more top hamper than was usual for her trim.

The depositions of Durban witnesses showed that the vessel was upright when she left there. There was nothing to indicate that she was top-heavy. A precis of the report of the Sabine’s search was read, and the inquiry was then adjourned, for the thirtieth time.
