Some carcase butchers deny the existence oMthe reported meat corner, and claim tlpt competition' in both the local and export trades is so keen as to exclude any chance of a corner. No large,carcase butclij jiiry has changed hands, and American buyers are only able to touch the export trade. The competition they meet .would make it an unprofitable proposition, as mutton lit for export is limited.
