The' two gaol-breakers—Denmead. and Pcgg, alias , Macc—were captured,' tp-day after an exi iting chhse. Detectives discovered them hiding in a house at Marrickville, which was rushed from both front and back. The escapees fled to the yard, where Fcgg, despite tlie detectives’ revolvers and threats to shoot, vaulted a fence and jumped through a window into a roam, where lie was secured after a fierce struggle. Denmead locked himself into another room. The detectives smashed the door, Denmead jumped out of the window, but was .overpowered in the yard after a strenuous resistance. . ' , Mace and Denmead, who escaped from Darlinghurst Gaol, but. were, recaptured, were brgught, before the Court. When applying for a remand the police stated that. a: fresh charge of breaking and entering since their; escape would be made. On the way to the station one of the men at tempted to dispose of a, watch, supposed to be part of the prooeeds of the city robbery on Thursday .qight..,,.
