AUSTRALIA’S BUTTER TRADE.
COMPULSORY GRADING ' '-DEMANDED.
•Frees Association.—Teles- ranh.— Copvrurht
SYDNEY, April 26. Mr Lockyer, Assistant Comptroller of Customs, has furnished a report on the Federal Government’s supervision of the butter export trade. The kernel of the report is a straight-out demand for compulsory grading. Mr Lockyer declares that it is impossible to raise the Australian butter industry to a high level without it. He suggests that it is probable that with the increasing perfection of grading a greater quantity of butter will be marketed from Australia. The report also recommends Federal supervision, in factories and a charge of a farthing per box for grading. .
