Brewer. At 11.30 a goodly crowd of keen sports had assembled on'- the lawn, and after partaking of a most appetising luncheon provided by Mrs and the Misses Brewer; iweroqaickly mounted and off with Huntsman POrdon and his hounds for the afternoon’s sport, which proved all that could he desired for a first day. Although the hares were too numerous to provide really good hj anting, there was one short but good run. which, however, did not result in a kill. There jyere about fifty followers, all ablendidly mounted, and the jumping was ■of a very high order. ; Two Wanganui i idles were very .much in evidence, being always in front and taking-, their fences in really good style. About 4 o’clock heads were' turned for j he hofostead, where a most refreshing and delicious afternoon tea- was - dispensed. Then the party all adjourned to the verandah, where Mrs.Brewer presented; Mfv.M. Morrissey, the popular treasurer, with a handsome gold hunting' watch from the members of the hunt, in recognition of the valuable services he has rendered, to the Club. After the recipient had 'suitably resnonden speeches were made by Messrs, M. Nolan, O. Symcs, J. Biggie and W, Brewer, i.-j all of which feeling reference was made to the great loss sustained by the club owing to the death of Mr J. H. Nixon, their very popular vice-president and. treasurer. The absence from the field of the master. Mr O. Symes, was very much regretted, he being incapacitated by a bad attack of gout. . Amonkst. those - following were Mrs C.
