WAVERLEY NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent). The 6ale of work in connection with he Presbyterian Sunday School was opened on Friday morning, and although the weather was anything but fine, the sale was very well patronised. In the evening great amusement was caused by eome most amusing competitions, such as a ladies' nail-driving competition, which was won by Miss Smith, and a hat-trimming competition for gentlemen, which was won by Mr Allan Castle. All the different stalls were extremely well managed, and presented a very dainty appearance. a most appetising lunch and supper- wer: provided, by the ladies of the congregation. Financially the sale was a great success, about £6 being the result of the day's takings. The sale was continued on Saturday afternoon and evening. Dalgety and Co. held their fortmghtivsale on Tuesday, and the ruli'ig prievs were very good. We learn that Mr Waters, Government Engineer, is commencing the new road to the Rangitatau Block.
