At the Frozen Meat Conference to-day the committee appointed by the conference made the following recommendations: That freezing, companies be requested to 1 consider whether it is desirable to form a Meat Trade Federation, with a view o protecting the mutual interests of the companies and producers, in connection more especially with such matters as forms of bills of lading, policies of insurance, c.i.f. and e. contracts, discharge in London, insurance and quality of claims, pooling, grading, labour laws, and any other matters of a similar nature which might tend J towards the 'improvement of the trade. ”*%_ That a permanent committee be set up jnfiy the Conference to receive the replies of the Freezing Companies re the Federation of the Meat Trade, to confer with the • freezing companies and others interested on the question before mentioned, and bo an organisation for the purpose of protecting the interests of producers, such committee to take steps to ascertain if the producers are perpared to subscribe to a fund to meet the necessary expenses. That the Committee consider the time inopportune / for the organisation of producers through whom frozen meat should ■ be consigned and sold, seeing that several co-operative companies arc in existence, - and the present facilities for disposing of produce are sufficient. That the committee bo recommended to consider the question of cool storage accommodation in London for the use of New Zealand exporters of meat. The committee reported that it had not sufficient information before it to give an ~ opinion on the subject of cool storage in London.

A minority report disagreed materially with the foregoing. After discussing at great length the first clause, it was adopted. discussion is proceeding on the other clauses. The Hon. T. Mackenzie is expected to speak to-day.
