INCENDIARISM SUSPECTED. (Per United Press Association.) GISBORNE, January 38. The Maori Church at Tcaral, famous lor its beautiful * Maori carvings and church walls, was destroyed by fire this morning. Incendiarism is suspected. The church was one of the show nlaoes of the district. .. . „
MAORIS HEARTBROKEN. GISBORNE, Jaaraary 28. The carvings in the Maori Church rets executed about 1830, and removed to the building in 1890. Some of the slabs were 30 feet long by 4ft Bin.' wide, the workmanship upon Jfcem being very fine. The Maons in the <S#lrt are said to be heartbroken at the lose of a braiding which contained no many old associations. The church was insured for XIOOO in the iSialionaL
