COLEMAN SHIELD. (Per United Press Association.) ™ , NAPIER, January 26. the annual contest for the Coleman Shield took place at Hastings to-day in fine weather. The conditions arc Twelve men teams, 7 shots at 200, 500, and 600 yards The Ranfurly Rifles and Napier Guards tied for first place with a record score of 1055 points. Napier Rifles came third with 1045, Hastings Rifles 1018 Hawke’s Bay Mounted Rifles 995. • The champion belt, for which the twelve highest scores shot off (ten shots at 700 yards) was won by Bugler Hay (Napier Guards) with 138 points.
