THE KITCHENER CAMPS.
Ix reference to our remarks lad evening on the attendance of Public School Cadets at the Kitchener camp, it now appears that the Government is acting in accordance with the regulations, and that boys who have lilt school arc encouraged to continue their enrolment in the cadets. This, however, will probably lie changed under the new defence scheme. As regards the adult camps, we notice in the orders one item which seems to cal! for explanation. Officers are required to apply in sufficient lime lor such art hj it;-, as haver.-acks and water battles so that every man will lie provided. These articles should he on issue to every man in the forces, whereas the order seems to suggest Lhaf they are not, and that t bey are merely being rushed out in order that the forces may be made to look more business-like than they really arc. The practice of rushing equipment on to men in emergency would not pay in wartime. Kvery item should be in flic men’s bauds ready for instant Use, and there should he no med to appeal to officers to make application for them “in sufficient time.”
