The Phoenix Insurance Company of New York is writing oil £200,(j<;0 sterling, which it is alleged George Sheldon, the late president, illegally used for his own speculations. Mr Hotchki'-s, the superintendent of the State Insurarce Department, declared tnat there has been no examination of the Phoenix accounts for 22 years.
