SITUATION COMPLICATED.
By Arrest of Strike Leaders.

Mr H. M. Hughes, President of the Miners' Federation, declares that the arrests will enormously complicate the situatioa.
The Railway and Tramway Association has refused to countenance a general strike mania or a Bowling type of leader. In" voting 1 money for strike purposes the Association earmarked it for specific use.
All the leaders arrested were bailed out within a ftw hours. The offence is alleged to have been committed on November sth. This was the date on which the Delegate Board recommended the strike.
The police visited the Trades Hall and secured a large number of documents and the minute book relating to the proceedings on November sth, when a mass meeting of miners was held at Newcastle, and was addressed by Mr Bowling and other leaders. The meeting passed a resolution condemning the Government's action. Everything passed off quietly.
