John Maxwell, about .'!G yciUs of age, staying at St. Hollers Bay with Edwaul Shaw, was found by the latter lying on the ground with a lazor in his hand and his throat cut. Medical aid was secured, but Maxwell died an hour later. WELLINGTON, No\ ember 26. Tho body of a man was found on tho beach near Kaiwarra on Thursday. It lias boon identified as that of AndrewEdwards, married, ayed 40, a resident of Kliandallah. E\ulonco at the inquest showed that on November 11 the decased had been drinking. Ho went home and mack* himself to objectionable that his wife locked herself in a room. He tried unsuccessfully to break in, and then fired a shot through the wall. She escaped through tlie window and spent the ni & lit with a neighbour. Keturning next day she found the home considerably disturbed, and various articles stained with blood. Dr. Fyft'e said the deceased had a gaping wound in his throat, six inches long, and very deep. Death, however, was due to drowning. Jf deceased, after wounding himself, walked to where the body was found (a mile and a half), it was unexplainable. A verdict was returned that deatli was caused by drowning, but there was no o\ idence to show how the deceased got into tlie water.
