PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS SOCIETY.
The monthly meting- of the members of the above was held on Wednesday, September 22nd. Present — Mesdames Babbagc, Morton-Jones, Wickham, Misses Worgan, New combe, MortonJones, and Messrs. Sargeant and Inspector Smith. Mr. Sargeant presided. The secretary reported that several new members had joined. Mrs. Babbage was elected a member of the committee. | ACCOMMODATION PADDOCKS.— The matter o£ water for slock during summer months was brought up and fully discussed, and it was decided to approach owners of such paddocks with view of getting water supply. The matter was left in the hands of the inspector. PRIZE. — It was decided to donate a prize to the "Boy Scouts Company," for an essay, subject to be "The Protection of Dumb Animals." INSPECTOR'S REPORT.— Several cases of cruelty were reported. The inspector was instructed to inquire into a case of gross cruelty and neglect by somebody leaving sheep in a yard at Waverley for a fortnight, the animals ultimately dying of starvation. Mrs it.
