MINERS' HOURS.

THE EIGHT HOURS ACT. Infringements to be Dealt With. Press Association.— Telegraoh.— Copvmrht LONDON, August 27. Mr Herbert Gladstone, Home Secretary, informed a deputation from the Miners' Federation of Britain that the 60 hours' clause was not inserted in the Eight Hours Act merely to increase the number of working hours per day, but to help matters in times of pressure. Mr Gladstone said he intended to administer the Act in the same spirit as it was passed, and to investigate disputes submitted. If it were found that the object of the Act was infringed, he would put matters right.
