CHEAT PERFORMANCE BY LATHAM. He Beats All Records. gS Miles Covered in Record Time. Bleriot's Monoplane Capsizes. Press Association.— Telegraph.— Copyright. PARIS. August 27. At the Rheims tests, Latham beat all records for speed and distance, aeroplaning in a strong wind, until his petrol wa3 exhausted. He covered 96J miles in 2 hours, 18 minutes, 10 seconds. Comte Lambert, in a Wright machine, covered 72 miles in 114 minutes. Bleriot lost control of his best machine, which somersaulted and struck a fence. Nobody was injured. [Latham was born in France of British stock 26 years ago, and was educated at Cambridge. He has attracted much attention lately by his brilliant aeroplaming. He is one of the monoplane school, and has made two attempts to cross the "Channel, the last occasion failing by only a few hundred yards, his machine falling into the water alongside Dover pier.]
