LONDON, June 1

Mr Ben Kelvington, Grand Master, addressing the conference of the 'Manchester Unity of Oddfellnvs at Bradford, and dwelling on the Government proposal of insurance against invalidity and sickness, protested against any attempt to establish a State-aided,, compulsory form of compr-iition with the voluntary thrift movement.

A letter from Mr Lloyd George was read, stating that whatever legislation was adopted care must be taken to safeguard the interests of the ~reat Friendly Societies, and to secure their active cooperation in the scheme.
