A Ngaire Protest against Unimproved Valuation.

50 per cent Reduction asked for

ELTHAM, May 3.

At a meeting of settlers at Ngaire on Saturday night, dissatisfaction was ex pressed at the present system of taxation on farms.

The following resolution was passed : — "That this meeting protests against the system of valuing unimproved land, and requests that the unimproved value be re duced by 50 per cent., the improved value to be raised by that amount." It is hoped that other districts will support th,e protest.
