A QUEENSLAND TRAGEDY.
A number of police under an" inspector have been investigating the death of a man named Pring at Dulacca, Queensland. Assisted by a doctor from Roma, the search was continued, and what are alleged to be human remains were found among the ashes of an old fire about 13 miles from Dulacca, on the property of a selector named Dickson. Pring is supposed to have been the victim of an outrage, as a watch, alleged to have belonged to him, was also found in the fire. The remains of a- saddle and two horses, also said to have been his property, have been found. In the head of one of the animals several small bullets were discovered.
Dickson, who has been under, police surveillance for some time, was taken to the scene of the fire, and was arrested on a charge of murder. Subsequently the handcuffs linking Dickson to a constable were removed in order to permit the prisoner to partake _pf refreshments. On being freed it is alleged that Dickson stooped, and, snatching a revolver from the constable, placed the muzzle to his (Dickson's) forehead, and blew his brains out.
Dickson had been in the district for about 12 months. He purchased a selection and also erected a butcher's shop at Dulaca, where lie intended to enter the butchering business. He came to Dulacca from New South Wales, and previously was engaged in sheep farming in South Afrira. Deceased leaves a widow and three children.
