TO THJC JEDITOB,
Sir, — It is a pity "Planter" did not reveal his identity in his letter last evening, as from the tone of hio remarks he is one of the few who should "get into the limelight" on this particular subject. To my mind the public parks of V> anganju are a standing disgrace and not at all in keeping with the bize and importance of tin town. This is not to be wondered at, for c, peaking generally municipal bodies seldom includo mem with the qualifications n4ct6s*ry to- m!ake.iaL'sufccQßHuof'*or.tie»*o tifre Jttiufo i-afeorkraltuTp^ . - They r, tadkla'j lb& bilaineS3 as business men, bnt<4he aestbetot 1 cal side i$ generally, aiiiiiihus quantity.. Board idea- is one ip Have advocateed on. aeveral occasions and I believe li •,u,ch a I'ody were appointed in Wanganui there would not only be the suitable men forthcoming, but that a woudrous change would be effected hi a very short time, and at a tithe of the expense that would be necessary under the existing system. These are not a few -men in Wanganui who would take the matter up as a labour of Iqvo and make a success of it. They would know best what to plant, where to plant, and how to plant, which means a ldt. If, for instance, we 'had a Domain Hoard composed of such enthusiasts as Messrs J. T. Stewart, H. Sarjeant, Alex. Laird, Allison,, Field, Burnett and others, Wanganui would get good' value for every shilling spent and Hie town would possess attractions that are now sadly lacking. — I am, etc.,
