WANGANUI RUUGBY UNION.

A meeting of the Management Committee of the above was held last evening. Present — Mr G. Simpson (in the chair), Dr Wall, Messrs L. Bassett, Ashcroft, L. Craig, E. Durie, A. Gray, G. Thompson, E. Perrett, G-. Spriggens, and R. Dunkley (secretary). . WAVERLEY CLUB.— Mr J. Smith, the Waverley Club's delegate, who was in attendance, put the following decisions of the Waverley Club before the meeting: — (1) That it would be impossible to form a sub-union there; (2) that Mr J. Smith be a delegate to the Wanganui Union to explain the position; (3) if the Wanganui Union are agreeable, the Waevrley Club affiliate with the Union and Mr Smith be delegate for the club on the Union; (4) that Waverley enter a junior team.— Mr Smith pointed out that the differences among the members of the Waverley Club which had previously existed were being settled. The members were willing to enter as a senior club, but would only play junior this season, it being impossible to enter a senior team. — It was decided to admit the club on these conditions, and Mr Smith was welcomed as its representative. '•' i CARETAKER.— The appointment of R. Wilson as caretaker by the Grounds Committee was confirmed. WANGAEHU CLUB.— The secretary of this club forwarded a list of players and officials, and stated that thjs club wished to enter a junior team and a third-class team for the Wanganui Saturday Cup contests.—The club to be affiliated.

T.Y.M.I. — This club wrote asking to be allowed to be affiliated to the Union, and to. enter a third class tcam^-tr Agreed. • ALLEGED ASSAULT $0 REFEREE. — Mr Gordon Thompson, -wiio r^fereed in the Wangantii-Old Boys'ma^tch on Easter Saturday, reported as follows: — "I have to report that on Saturday, 10th inst., I acted as referee in a'match. Wauganui v. 1 Napier ,Old Boys. During the game I had • occasion to warn , the Old Boys' wing forward, for putting, the ball unfairly into the scrum. He repeated the offence, so I penalised him. He did not T take nry decision kindly, and during -tj&j ; evening he taxed me about it. I explained why I penalised him, and he became abusive and I turned away from him, saying I would not argue the matter any further. v Thereupon lie struck me on the_ face- with hiß, clenched fist. This occasioned a disturbance, during which I, of necessity, had to take my own part. I am prepared to call evidence as to the actions of and the language used by the man . I may state that this man is at present a member of the Wanganni F.C., and I think it is the duty of this Union to take action in the matter, so as to protect their own Befprees' Association, who feel very strongly 'in the matter." — It was decided to for•ward particulars of the incident to the Hawke's Bay Union, that the player in '.question be asked to attend the next meeting of the committee, and that pending •further consideration he be warned off all grounds under the jurisdiction of the Union.

REC. N. I.— The Pirate Club was granted permission to use No. 1 ground on Saturday. - DELEGATE.— The appointment of a delegate to the annual meeting of. the New Zealand .Union was left over till next meeting. "

CAEETAKER'S RESIDENCE. — The sura of 3ps was allowed Mr Gill, late caretaker, for setting in a copper. HOLIDAY 'MATCH.— It was decided to invite Rangitikei to play a match in Wangamii on June 3rd. ADVERTISING COMMITTEE.— Messrs Craig, Wesney, and thescretary were appointed an advertising committee. TRAM SERVICE.— The secretary was instructed to write to the 'Borough Council pointing out that the season was going to open /at an early date. ' ■

. SEASON TICKETS.— On 'the motion of Mr Spriggens "it was resolved to have printed ,100 gents' season tickets at 10s Gd, and 100 ladies' tickets at ss.
