Mr F. A. Krull, German Consul, would be glad if anyone coujd. furnish him with the°whereabouts of Emil Moll, a German, of the age of 28 years. In November, 1906, he was bushfelling in the Wanganui district, and* since then his aged father has heard no\hing of him. One of the oldest settlers on the coast passed away this morning, wheri v Mr Jas. Ball, who for the past few years has resided in Wanganui, died" after a short illness. The late Mr Ball landed in Kakaramca over sixty yoars of age and was the first white man to buy land and settle on it in ihe Patea district. He served through both Maori wars, and was presented by the N.Z. Government with a revolver for conspicuous • bravery in action. The station and settlement at "Ball Road were named after the deceased gentleman, and that was for many years the scene of his labours, his farm being one of the beat known in the district. Some few years back Mr Ball retired from active life and, as above stated, came to live in Wanganui. The late Mr Ball leaves a widow, four sons and two daughters to mourn their loss. The sons are Messrs Harry and Charles, of Waverley; Jack, Eketahuna; and George, on H.M.S. Powerful ; and the daughters, Mrs C. Shields, Fordell, and Miss Ball, of Wanganui. The family will have the deep sympathy of many friends in their sad bereavement.
