WANGANUI TROTTING CLUB.
Ac the date for the opening of the Wanefanui Trotting Club's gathering approaches the interest in the fixture increases, and it is quite evident that the meeting is going to bo a very successful one providing the weather is favourable. The acceptances received are much better than the most sanguine anticipated and as trotters and pacers will be here from all parts of the Dominion,' some first-class 3port is assured.
It is interesting to note that Dolly Wood, who is engaged in the Wanganui Cup and President's Handicap, in which sho has 406ecs. and 30secs. respectively, won the Ladies' Bracelet Handicap at the N.Z. Metropolitan Meeting last week. She had 12secs. handicap, and won comfortably covering the 1J miles in 4min llsecs. Other horses engaged here also showed good form, and with' the number of fine performers engaged from other parts it is evident that some high-class trotting will be witnessed here on Thursday and Saturday next. The officials ,of the Club are working hard to perfect the arrangements, and everything that can be done to ensure the enjoyment of* patrons :?will be done. Given fine weather a very large attendance can safely be predated, an£ the sport provided should be of 'a most" interesting description. ■ ' '
