WELLINGTON, March 22, •_ The executive of the Wellington branch of the Navy League held jfr £jiftsfel m«et-_ ing this afternoon, and passed a resolution heartily endorsing' the- Cabinet's offer to the Britis-h Government 4n connection with th«f naval cmis. TIMARU, March 22. At a meeting of the Timaru Borough Council to-night the Mayor and councillors expressed great satisfaction at the action of the ' Government in deciding to present the Mother Country with a battleship, and decided to forward a motion of appreciation to the Premier. The motion was carried unanimously, and the Councillors immediately o.n passing 1 it rose and sang a verse of the National Anthem. AUCKLAND, March 22. At a Meeting of the Newmarket Borougfh Council to-night it was resolved — "That in \iew of the serious state of af- j fairs in regard to the Navy requirements, this Council places on record its appre- i ciation of the action of the Ministry in offering to present the Imperial Government vith a battleship, believing, as it does, -!hat the whole fundamental basis of Ywaeef and the security of the Dominion o£~New Zealand in particular, is founded on, the streigth of the British Navy."
