AN OLD MANS DEATH.

CHRISTCHURCH, March 23. i Suspicions ch'cumstances appear to have I developed in connection with the death of j a man aged 70, named Andrew Douglas ' Hardie, whose body was found lying outside a cottag-e near Dudley Creek, Richmond, on Sunday morning. The body was removed to the morgue to await an inquest which was to be held yesterday. A post mortem examination, however, revealed the fact that the man's back and right ribs had been broken. The i body was found with the head supported i on a rolled-up Maori kit, and had evidently been moved to the spot where it lay. At the inquest proceedings yesterday, the Corpner stated that, in such cases, it was not) usual to proceed without a iurjr and adjourned the inquiry until this afternoon in , order that a jury might be summoned, and to allow the police to make further inquiries. j
