OHAKUNE TOWN BOARD.

(By Telegraph.) (From Our Own Correspondent). OHAKUNE, November 26. At the usual meeting of the Ohakune Town Board there were present Commissioners Athy, Quinn, Butler, Loane, and Wilkie. After the minutes had been passed, correspondence was read from the Colonial Secretary re the removal of bodies from graves in the centre of the town to Rangataua cemetery. Mr Butler moved, and Mr Wilkie seconded, that the clerk secure the necessary information for the Colonial Secretary. — Carried.

Mr Wilkie moved, and Mr Loane seconded, that the clerk interview the solicitor re the footpath from Raetihi corner to opposite the Grand Hotel. — Carried. The clerk reported re the special loan of .£3OO, and the striking of a general rate of a penny halfpenny. Mr Wilkie reported having engaged Mr Pearson to look after the town lamps. Mr Loane moved, and the Chairman seconded, that it be a recommendation to the Board, when employing labour, that the minimum wage be 8s per day. — Carried. Mr Loane moved, and the Chairman seconded, that a vote of thanks be passed to Mr Wilkie for the keen interest he had taken in the town lamp. — Carried. Mr Butler moved, and Mr Quinn seconded, that the Clerk, Mr Wilkie, the Chairman, and the solicitor wait on the County Council re the^BoOO loan, and other matters. — Carried.

Mf Wilkie moved, and Mr Loane seconded, that the Clerk write through Mr Jennings, to the Minister of Lands, re reserves to be vested in the Town Board. — Carried. The Cleric was instructed to write to Mr Jennings, M.P., re rente from leaseholds, re the worthless sections that are to be leased next month, -And that the, same should be cleared first, also for immediate erection of the Mangawhero bridge. Mr Wilkie brought up the matter of a woman being in poor circumstances in Ohakune, and it was decided that a deputation bring the matter before the Council. A long discussion took r>lace re by-laws, and the meeting then terminated.
