Sir, — That we Prohibitionists are delighted at our success goes without saying, particularly as we know we are being watched from all parts of the world — perhaps especially Australia. Nothing can keep us back now, as nothing succeeds like success. There is, however, just one discordant note. I refer to the No-license prayer meetings. As "Anti-wowser" says, "Would the No-license party have passed votes of no-confidence in Him if it had been badly beaten F" The churches have done splendid work for the reform all over the Dominion, to which much of our success is due, but I most respectfully ask, "In what way has God assisted?" We are well on the road to final victory. In a few years there will be no drink traffice to fijjht in New Zealand. Everything points that way. But it is only by hard work and perseverance, good organisation, and fair play that we win. We are ridding the Dominion of a traffic that should never have existed, and if we give thanks to God for removing it, then we must by the same logic blame Him for all the trouble it has caused. For my own part, I neither praise nor censure One who neither helps nor hinders. — I am, etc.,
