GISBORNE, November 20. The police received a wire last night to the effect rhat a labouring man named Will'am Haivey had been seriously assaulted and found with severe injuries JWiout the head. Harvey alleges that another man i amed Jas. Jackson, a wharf labourer, with whom he had been drinking yesterday. came to his house and attacked him" with a wool hook without The police arrested Jackson, who was charged at the Court this mornjßg with assault and causing bodily harm. Harvey was not in a condition to appear, %nd the case was remanded to the 28th.
