Christchurch Supreme Court. (Per United Pre9s Association ) CHIUSTCHURCH, November 19. At the Supreme Court to-day an elderly man namod Kerry Scrimdnnv, wad convicted of attempting to carnally know a child of five years, but was recommended ti. mercy ou account of age. Sentence was deterred. A young man named John James Gibbs was admitted to 18 months' probation on a charge of forging the signature to a Po'-t Olhee order, the Judge saying he looked upon the Probation Act as one applicable to cases of sudden temptation. Thomas William Dawson was acquitted (»n a charge of indecently assaulting a child o!P2£ years. Ernest .loseph Ditford. a lad of 13, who had on the previous day pleaded guilty to a charge ot indecent aisault, \va6 ordered to come up for sentence at the next criminal f-itting on condition that he should he kept under restraint at the Samatitan Home in the meantime.
