Mr J. T. Hogan's Candidature
Thcro was a very large attendant of supporters of Mr Hogan and friends of the Liberal cause at the Fire Brigade Hall last evening-, Mr J. H. Kc^mg- *>ccupyini* the chair. He congratulated the candidate and the workers on the magnificent poll on Tuesday, which was a credit to all concerned. He was confident that next Tuesday Iliere would be a majority in fay. our of Mr Hogan which would leave no doubt as t-> whether the people were true to Liberal principles or not. He vigorously and forcibly defended his action on Monday evening, and a hearty vote of appreciation was unanimously accorded him by the meeting. Mr Hoga.i, wlu entered the room during the progress of the meeting and was accorded an ovation, made a brief speech, expressing his sincere thanks to all those who had worked so hard on his behalf.
The rest of the evening was devoted to perfecting the organisation for next. Tuesday's contest. The meeting, which wa^ a most enthusiastic one, closed at 10 o'clock.
Mr Ilogan's central executive committee meets every evening at 8 o'clock in the Fire Brigade Hall. Tho Ladies' Committee meets in the same hall this afternoon at 3 o'clock. All lady friends willing to help are asked to attend.
The Aramoho committee will meet this evening at 8 o'clock in Mr Benefield's office, St. John's committee will meet at Mr McEwen's (No. 10, Niblett Street), and the Castlecliff, Mosstown, and Eastbrook committees at their late meeting places. A full attendance is requested in each case. A mass meeting will be held on Saturday evening- at 7.30. Other meetings will be held, due notice of which will be given.
