CORRESPONDENCE.

The Wharf Lumpers

TO THE IDITOB.

Sir,— Will you allow me space to refer ta the remarks passed at the Harbour Board meeting 1 ast Friday re wharf lumpers' waiting room. Mr Ritchie's remarks I put down to his ignorance, but I do object to Mr Millward's. He showed very bad feeling in referring to us men in the way he must have done, considering he is agent for boats that come in to this port at all times, day or night. These terrible wharf lumpers have to turn out to work these boats, and Mr Millward should have been the very man to support the Mayor's proposals. But- he has shown the men he is no, friend of theirs, and there is no doubt the men will remember the insult. — I am, etc.,

LUMPER.
