LONDON, October 3.
Mr V. Harcourt, speaking at Crawshaw, said there was not the shadow of foundation for the half-craven, half-chau-vinist alarms that the Government would leave Britain defenceless. Our naval supremacy, he said, would be maintained whatever the cost. Any probability of sacrifice would be* better met from our ever increasing wealth rather by loans.
Mr Harcourt declared that never wi.iiin the last 15 years had Britain's relatinis with Germany — whether commercial, colonial, political, or dynastic — been on a firmer or more friendly footing than today. No personal animosity existed bptween the two great peoples.
