LAWN TENNIS.
Two of the Aram oho Club's lawns wero
available for play on Saturday, and were engaged throughout the afternoon by a t number of players of both sexes. The Courts are considerably improved as compareu with last year, but the club would be well advised in obtaining the services ot a neavy roller tor a few days. The grass is fine and thick, and with good rolling the courts wouKi play very fast. On Saturday the ladies provided after- ( noon tea, which was much enjoyed. The
official opening of the season takes place iifixt Saturday, wlhen the four courts will be available, and a laiger number of players may be expected to turn out. The Gonville courts are no^r being covered wii-ii a coat of green, the seed, recently sown, having come away in a manner 1 which more than meets anticipation. With the present favourable conditions, the lawns should be in a forward vtate in Nove/hber.
