SCHOOL OF ART.
Interest in the work of this section of our local Technical School continues' to grow. A special morning course is being provided for those unable * to. avail themselves of ' afternoon or evening classes. Drawings from still life and" the" living? model, for portraiture, in addition to outdoor sketching, is included in the subjects taught. The class meets to-morrow (Friday) morning, and as the number of students will be strictly limited it is desirable that those wishing to join the class should at once communicate with the Director (Mr Varney), or the art master (Mr D. Seaward. A.8.C.A.).
One of the most important classes in the school curriculum is the Design Class specially formed for those engaged in the different departments of decorative art wrok, modelling, ' book-binding, book illnstiation, lithography, illuminating and lettering, woodcarving, silver smithing, enamelling, etc. The application of the figure (animals, birds, the human figure, etc.), to posters, catalogues, showcards and programmes will tie a special feature of flic class.
It is confidently anticipated that the Wanganui arts aud err *■*, under the able guidance of Mr Seawai", will in the n- ar future, stand m the front rank of such institutions in the Southern Hemisphere To assist in attaining so prominent a p< sition we hope that all interested in any branch of art will do their utmost to make the school known, for we are sure that it needs only to be known to be appreciated.
