Support for the Wives and Children
\ A Striker's View of the Situation
GREYMOUTH, April 13.
The Wharf Labourer^' Union, ■•t a meeting on Sunday, decided to continue their support to the wives and childre.i of the Blackball strikers. The m!3*in^ was addressed by Messrs Rogers and Goldsmith, of Blackball.
A meeting of the Tyneside miners is called for Friday to reconsider their ac tion ou Saturday of withdrawing suppf-tt from the miners at Blackball.
One of the strikers, writing to the Grey Argus, regarding Saturday's me:'ing at Blackball, states that "the mm n were told before the meeting that th sy were going to get 30s a week for each man, l()s for the wife, and 5s for each child. The desire to have money without working was too strong, and con.-.0-quently the opportunity for a settlement passes, and we are- going to contia.u= Ilive on the moyjy of others.
