WANGANUI LITERARY AND DEBATING SOCIETY.
The adjourned committee meeting of the above Society was held last evening to consider the draft rules.
PRESENT.— Messrs J. Driver (in the chair) and Rev. Holloway, Hogg, Holloway, Kernohan, Murphy, Dunkley, Goldie, aud J. Brine (the secretary). " SEASON.— It was resolved that the season should commence on April 30th" with a presidential address, given by Mr J. H. Keesing, to be followed- by a social evening. RULES — The following rules were adopted : That Messrs A. D. Willis, G. Braik, and J. H. Keesing be appointed a Board of Judge 9; that the contests be conducted so that every team meets every other team; tliat the registration fee for the Society be altered from 5s to 10s 6d; that the Society meet on the first Friday in every month; that the Society be divided into two grades, A and B; that in the case of debates with country clubs the date be mutually decided upon; and that Messrs Fillis, Dunkley, and Brine be a committee to draw up the syllabuß.
