MELBOURNE, April 9. In the nowling tournament Victor'a fipored 121 aud New Zealand 95. The Carlton green was perfect, there was a fuir attci dance, and glorious weather. The Now Zealandoi's were heartily welcomed. Ihe scores were: —

Smith, Mania, Coltman, and Goldstein 18, v Oliver, TYickett, Wright, and Waxman 21. An even game until the. sixth end, when the New Zenlandera were leading by two, but in the next five ends the Victorians failed to score, giving the visitors a lead of four. Then Waxman gained several singles, followed by a brace and a four. On the 20th end the Now Zealanders were leading by 3, but Victoria scored* on the remaining end

Snath, Broad, Waddcll, and Bishop 18', v. Jamieson, Wood, Collins, and Stephens 23. In the first seven ends the visitors scoicd only two (made at the opening'), and Victoria getting 9. In the next ten ends Victoria scored 6, five ends yielding nothing. At Ihe 30th end Victoria led by 4, but at the 20th head the game livened up by the steady scoring of the .visitors, who then were leading by two. Victoria got 4 in in the 21st end, followed by a pair and a single, the visitors scoring 3 in the -Ith ond. but failed in the last end.

Thenceforth the New Zealanders scored at only one end, making 3-, while their opponents missed at orly one end, scoring one five. The totals were: — At the sth end New Zealand 13, Victoria 30; 10th, New Zealand 33, Victoria 53: 15th, New Zealand 68, Victoria 67; 20th, New Zealand 79, Victoria 94.

The teams were entertained to-night at dinner by the president, Mr Chas. Wood, of- the yictori.in Association.

Mr Thomas died in the hospital of diabetes, and will be buried to-morrow.

The Ballarat teams played with mourning bands, and the flag on the green was at half-mast. The New Zealanders and the Victorians are sending wreaths".
