LIFE SAVING AND SWIMMING DIS-

PLAY.

Those in search of half-holiday diversion to-morrow afternoon will be well catered for at the Corporation Baths, where Mr B. Olds will give his last sife saving and swimming demonstration prior to his departure for Cliristchurch, where he has been appointed custodian of the new municipal baths. The occasion will also be marked by the final appearance of little Dora Olds. -J.r Olds will be assisted by bis lady and men pupils, and by the wellknown band of "Arabs," and as the ability, both of himself and his assistants, is well known, a large attendance should ensue. Fancy and high diving will also be included iv the programme, which starts at 3 o'clock. Admission Is, children 6d.

The members of the Wanganui Chamber of Commerce are reminded of the monthly meeting which will be held at the office, Wicksteed Place, on Friday, 10£ li inst.', at 10.30 a.m.

Members are reminded of the ballot to be held at 8 o'clock to-night in connection with the Co-operative Building Society. A full attendance is desired.

The Rev. F. W. Isitt will address a meeting of No-License workers in St. Paul's Hall on Friday evening. All spporte*Tß of temperance reform are invited. Ecfreshments -will be provided t>j the members of the Women's Christian Temperance Union, and a collection will be taken to defray expenses.

A meeting of those interested in forming a Literary and Debating Society was held in the Dublin Street Primitive Methodist classroom last evening, there being a good number present. It was decided to form a society, to be named "The Dublin Street Literary and Debating Society," meetings to be held fortnightly on Tuesday evenings. The following officers were elected: — President, Rev. E. Drake; vicepresidents, Messrg Upton, Varney, and Knuckey ; secretary, Mr W. T. Moore ; assistant secretary, Mr I. Stenberg; treasurer, Mr J. H. Upton. The officers, with Messrs H. Stenberg and Cook, to form the committee. A committee was appointed to draft a syllabus, and it was decided to hold the first meeting on Tuesday, April 28th, when Mr A. E. Watkinson will deliver an lecture, entitled "A Walk in Wonderland."
