CH3USTCHURCH, April 7. Successful trials have been made by the Tramway Board 'of "road sprinklera used for laying dust, as fire prevention appliances. A nozzle was added to enable a jet of water to be thrown, 25 feet high. The cost <;f fitting spriaklerc with 6-inch valves for firi- prevention^purposes is about .£3O each. The Fire Board will be allowed the use of the sprinklers, the larger ones of which carry 5000 gallons. During February, 873,106 fares were carried tn the Chrifetchurch Tramway Board's lines.
