Mr R. L. Stanford, S.M., presided at -a sitting of the Bulls Court to-day. The Rev. F. W. Isitt, general secretary of the N.Z. Alliance, has returned to Wellington aiter an extended tour of the noithern electorates.
Thirty-five years have elapsed to-day sir.cc Sir Julius Yogel first became Premier of New Zealand.
The Premier left Wellington for the South to-night. He will be absent from Wellington for about three weeks, ins Southern tour includes Southland and Westland. The Rev. Herbert Watson, M.A., vicar of the Aramoho-Waitotara parochial district, has been nominated to the cure of the parish of St. Matthew's, Masterton, rendered vacant by the resignation of the Rev. MM. Johnson, M.A. Air Watson has signified his acceptance of the position. Miss Lilian Roff, of Colchester, is the first woman to achieve the distinction of Bachelor or Diviuity of London University, and now stands Gide by side in academic fame with Dr. Sophie Bryant, who first won the D.Sc. ; Miss Fawcett, who gained a wran°rlership ; and Mrs Butler, who "topped" the classical tripos. The Star records the death of Mrs Jan© lxolman, one of Feilding's oldest residents, which occurred at her residence, GladstoneStreet, yesterday, at the age of 77 years. Mrs Holman arrived here with her husband (who predeceased her by '21 years) in 1877 from Cornwall, England, and had resided there ever since.
