The Gtertahira Outrage.
Statement by Mr Birrell.

In the Commons, Mr Birrell, speaking in connection with che Glenahifa outrage, declared that Inspector Preston's report of the 7th of September was modified into a report of the 11th, because the "law officers found that ifc contained suggestions, also matters-of fact, concerning events Borne of which occurred before he arrived on the sceag. The second report was prepared and signed without anybody's interference or suggestion. Mr Birrell denied that it was alt°red, and offered to product the original firet report. -He added that if l>otn sides wanted a public inquiry into the Glenahira affair, the last thing the Government wished was to conceal anything, or keep anything back. Mr Rftdmond gave notiye of motion in favour of a public inquiry into the matter. 'IV Irish members and the Unionists support the demand that Inspector Preston s report of th© 7th be issued.
