SWIMMING.

THE FEILDING CARNIVAL.

The FeildiHj Swimming Club held their initial sports meeting on Saturday in Mr Carr's private artificial lake, which proved an ideal strip of water for the purpose. The competitors were numerous, and spectators were in attendance in unusually large numbers for such an event. Incluedd among teh competitors were seven Wanganui boys, all but one of whom returned home with some of the successes of the meeting. Mr Fred Pirani made an efficient director of the sports and got the events off in good time, while the judges — Messrs J. Cobbe, F. T. Lethbridge, M.P., G. Bartholomew, L. E. Jackson, and Rev. Mr Steut, gave every satisfaction, as likewise did the starter, Mr'W. P. Pratt, and the handicappers, Messrs Hadfield and R. Carr. A feature of the meeting was the interest taken in the proceedings by the prominent men of the town. The results were as follows : — 25 Yards Schoolboys' Race. — O'Malley 2sec 1, H. McLeod lsec 2.
