BUSH FIRES.

Re-kindled in Hamua.

(Per United Press Association). EKETAHUNA, February 3. A southerly wind on Saturday freshtened the fires in the Hamua District, and an anxious time was experienced by residents. In a number of instances furniture was removed from the houses to places of safety.

A three-roomed cottage, occupied by W. White, alongside the hotel, was destroyed, and only a little furniture saved. Several cowsheds and outbuildings were demolished, and general damage was done, while the township was in grave anger of destruction. The natives living on the hill opposite the hotel cleared their whares of everything, and slept in the open air all nlgflifc The fires have now gubsided-
