Annual Meeting South Island N.D A,

INVERCARGtILL, January 31.

At the annual meeting of members of the South. Island branch of the National Dairy Association to-night it was resolved that- the subscription be on the basis of tonnage without limit ; that all matters for discussion at- the annual conference be put in the hands of the secretary 30 clear da /a before the conference, and be forwarded .it once to the varipus directorates for consideration; that it be recommended to the Minister of Agriculture to inchide the cooling of milk in the dairy inspectors' duties; and that the inspectors instruct and assist the farmers as to the cheapest rind best mode for ths same.

The motions were carried

Mr Sawers, Government instructor, gave an address on cheese 'grading. He stated, inter alia, that be thought this, going on as usual, he will be, unable to detect any great improVement in cheese, though it .was slightly better in flavour. v Mr Singleton, Acting Dairy Coihmiseioner, spoke on dairying generally, and expressed the opinion (hat New Zealand had little to learn in what they were trying to do. They wanted not more knowledge, but more care.
