MADAME LOMAN CONCERT.

TO-MOROW NIGHT.

The programme for the above recital tomorrow night is a particularly choice and popular one, which should appeal to all classes. Madame Loman will open with "On Mighty Pens — Creation" — Haydn. Her succeeding numbers will be five bracketed items, two by Schubert, "The Enquirer," and "Slumber Song," "My Mother bids w© bind my hair" (Haydn), "Ring-a-ring-a-rcey" (Rennes), and Cowan's "The Swallows." "Lo, Here the Gentle Lark" (Bishop), with flute obligate by Mr George Poore follows, then another four bracketed numbers "Regrete" (Dclibes), "Serenade" (Strauss), "The Smithy" (Loman), and "Twas April" (Niyen). A critical glance at the above must impress the reader with the versatility of the visitor and the programme alone stamps her as a great artist lli us a- contemporary: — Two of Schubert's cb arming ballads succeeded, "Der Neugienjje" and the "Wiegenlied," both, given with fine expression. In the second there was tender ness and sweetneea inexpressible, and in encore was called for and given. ''Mv Mother bids me bind my Hair," was marked by the same perfect sympathy with the subpet. The two examples by Madame Loman last >iight were delightfully simple. The first was by Van Rennes, a setting °f one (or perhaps two, combined) of those •^Mid-ditties which accompany favourite games. Beginning with the familiar "Riag-a-ring-a-rosy," it developed into a fingerdance, each digit being assigned a nameSo delighted was the audience with this little pie^e, that Madame bad to sing it thrice. The other — the merry blacksmith, who sings "Tokks-tokke-toh" and "Klappe-klappe-klap" (Loman), might be described as an anvil song, and was charmingly sung. With the talented support of Herr Benno Scherek. Messrs Anderson and Poore, the concert is certainly one of rare merit. The box plan is open at Messrs H. I. Jones and Sons' and the house promises to be a big ono.
