A NEW WOOL PRESS.

An exhibit which created unusual interest amongst sheep farmers to-day was the "Easy" wool press, the invention of Messrs Byron and Scott, of Wellington. Mr T. Scott is a member of the firm of Scott Bros., Wanganui, and has had a long experience in handling wool. He conceived the idea of utilising a system of cog-wheels and rack (instead of the old style ratchet and lever) and after consider? >ble experimenting produced an ingenious, combination which js attached in a neat box to thn side of the press. The combination of cogs admits two speeds in a quick action at the beginning of the pressure and a slower and more powerful movement towards the finish. Exhaustive tests have been made alongside other presses and the results have proved that the "Easy" is capable of twice the output of any other press under exactly similar conditions. Again and again bales have been turned out in ten minute^, but, assuming that the average time be fifteen minutes per bale, sheep farmers will readily understand the enormous saving Messrs Bryan and Scott's "Easy" wool press will effect. The working parts am solidly msde — made to last and the "'Easy" should soon be in every woolsh<>d in Australasia
