(Per United Trees Association). AUCKLAND, November 11. At the Supreme Court Mr Justice Denniston, commenting on the exploits of the boy William James Crombie, said that there was nothing more likely to destroy the glamour of "Dead Eye Dick" heros than a sound flogging in public. He regretted that he could not order the whipping, but sent the boy to the Industrial School tor twelve months. Other sentences were George Horescroft (Thames) six months for forgery, Hugh Wilson, aged 43, theft of money, admitted to probation. Frank Christopher, alias Anderson, on a charge of stealing a portmanteau from the Auckland railway station, pleaded guilty, and having a long list of previous convictions, received a sentence of 2 years. John Huzzy, alias Connel, who pleaded guilty to obtaining money by false pretences at Papakura, also received 2 yeau. Iwa, a Maori charged with theft from a dwelling, was sentenced to 12 months, while another Maori, Tapiaka Ruatara, charged with the theft of a steer, was found not guilty and discharged.
